I'll listen to you - Please listen to what I have to say

Click out the "ABOUT" tab above to learn more about where I stand on the issues. Look below to see a few highlights.

Eric Ostergren for Commissioner - District 2

I'll be a fighter for Roscommon County

I'll be a Commissioner that listens to you. My home is just off Higgins Lake an 1/8th of a mile and I understand the problems and issues we face. Also, I'm President of the Citizens for Higgins Lake Legal Levels and Birch Road End Dock Association (both non-profit organizations).

I'm Running to Shake Things up-I have a Proven Track Record

I have served Roscommon for years

I helped President Trump in the 2020 Election

I helped reduce Swimmer's Itch on Higgins

I FOUGHT GERRISH TOWNSHIP ASSESSOR AND LOWERED OUR PROPERTY TAXES

For those of you that do not know me, I've been a fighter for tax fairness. Back in 2012, the property assessments in Gerrish Township were severely over-assessed. I filed a Complaint with the Michigan State Tax Commission regarding those improper assessments. That Complaint lead to an investigation into how our assessor was computing our property taxes and she was brought before the STC for a disciplinary review. She resigned 3 days before that review and assessments and property taxes were lowered shortly thereafter. See more in the "About" section.

I FOUGHT TO REDUCE SWIMMER’S ITCH ON HIGGINS

I supported the Higgins Lake Swimmer’s Itch Organization and worked closely with Dr. Curtis Blankespoor in capturing and relocating Merganser ducklings off the lake that were spreading Swimmer’s Itch. They were humanely taken to an area where the snail that spreads the parasite to humans does not exist. I also removed all the Merganser nest boxes that were attracting Mergansers to Higgins.  See more in the "About" section.

PRESIDENT TRUMP AND I SUED MICHIGAN SECRETARY OF STATE JOCELYN BENSON IN 2020 ELECTION

A month before the 2020 election, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson changed the rules regarding Poll Challengers  overseeing the counting of mail-in ballots. The NRCC assigned me to be a Poll Challenger to overlook the counting of mail-in ballots in battleground Oakland County and I was illegally removed from overseeing the counting. The next day President Trump and I filed a lawsuit against Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. See more in the "About" section.

The Sewer Project

My Position

The sewer project is a big issue. However, Commissioners have no authority to do anything about it, one way or the other. The sewer project is a Township issue. Anyone running for Commissioner should be honest with the voters and explain that fact. If they don’t explain that, they aren’t being honest with you.

That being said, I believe we need a sewer system around Higgins. Who pays for it and the boundaries for the Special Assessment District needs to be known before we vote on it.   We also need to know how much money is going to be provided by grants before finalizing the project.

There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding what the cost will be to the individual property owner and that needs to be known before everything is finalized.

One thing is clear however, Higgins Lake is over built, and septic systems are the major contributor to the pollution on Higgins. Common sense would tell you that everything we pump into the ground eventually ends up in Higgins Lake.

I need your help

On Tuesday, August 2, the Republican Primary will be held and the winner will run virtually "unopposed" in the General Election.
